Description
These are two cottages located approximately 30 meters southeast of Cherington House, dating from the mid-17th century. They are built in two stages and feature squared coursed limestone and coursed rubble with quoins and coped gables on kneelers. The cottages have a stone-slate roof with a stone ridge and end stacks.
The layout consists of two two-unit plans, with two stories and a four-window range that includes 2- and 3-light mullioned windows, all adorned with hood moulds and labels. There is a chamfered oval window in the center with a hood mould, and to the first floor left, there is a hollow-chamfered elliptical-head light. The cottages have 20th-century plank doors located to the center-left and center-right.
There is a blank stone tablet with an elliptical-headed chamfered surround at the center of the first floor, along with additional mullioned windows and a 17th-century gabled stair-turret range at the rear. Inside, the cottages feature chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace, which is now covered.
