Description
This is a town house, later adapted as a hotel, built between 1774 and 1779. The building is constructed of brick with buff brick headers and ashlar dressings, and has a tile roof with brick end stacks. It is an example of the Georgian style, with two storeys and a two-window front.
The front of the building features a plaster plinth, platt bands, and quoins. There is a timber frieze and cornice above, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. The entrance is located to the left of centre and features pilasters and a consoled cornice above a six-fielded-panel door. A round-headed archway is positioned at the right end of the building.
The ground floor has a window to the left of the entrance, featuring a bracketed sill and an eared architrave with a key, with a 12-pane sash window. To the right of the entrance is a canted bay window with a 4:16:4-pane sash window. The first floor windows are similar to those on the ground floor to the left, but with triple keys over 4:16:4-pane tripartite sash windows. Two hipped dormers with 2-light leaded casements are present on the attic level.
The rear of the building has a later wing which has been altered.
