Description
61 to 67 High Street are houses that have been converted into shops, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a brick dentil cornice. The roof, added in the late 20th century, is tiled and has brick ridge stacks. The building is arranged in a U-shape, with two storeys and an attic, and has a five-window range. The late 19th-century shop fronts are uniform across the building, featuring half-glazed doors with overlights, windows with shafts, simple wood pilasters, and a continuous fascia. Number 67 has windows facing both High Street and Swan Street, with an entrance on the splayed corner that includes double leaf doors. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows set under brick segmental arches with keystones, although the central window is blocked. The attic contains four dormers with 19th and 20th-century casements. The front facing Swan Street has four shop windows and a two-window range with brick flat arches. There is a mid-19th-century addition in a similar style that includes a sash window with a painted wood lintel. The interior features exposed ceiling beams.
