Description
A row of three town houses dating to the late 16th/early 17th century, with alterations and additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. Number 49 was refaced around 1800, and number 51 was refaced in the 20th century. The houses are timber-framed with brick or plaster infill, and have a roof covered with old and renewed tiles, with a brick stack to the front and one to the rear ridge. The houses are two storeys high, with a four-window range for number 49, a single-storey and attic arrangement for number 50, and a two-window range for number 51. Number 49 has a modillioned brick cornice, a segmental-headed entrance with a plank door to the left end, and two segmental-headed ground-floor windows and a first-floor window, all with two-light, small-paned casements. Number 50 has timber-framing on a coursed rubble plinth. The entrance is to the right end and has a 20th-century plank door. There are two ground-floor windows with two-light, small-paned casements, one with an iron opening casement, and a gabled dormer with a small three-light casement. Number 51 has a brick front with an entrance in a segmental-headed recess to the right end, three segmental-headed ground-floor windows and two first-floor windows, all with casements. The rear of the building includes exposed timber-framing with a timber-framed gabled wing to the left of centre, a braced wall plate, a catslide outshut to the left, and 20th-century additions to the right with a small first-floor window and a three-light casement above.
