Description
39 and 40 Eley Street are a pair of cottages located in Stratford-upon-Avon, dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. They underwent restoration and refronting in the 1970s, which replaced an earlier brick front from around 1800. The cottages feature a timber-frame construction set on a brick plinth, and they have a renewed tile roof with a brick stack at the front of the ridge.
These single-storey cottages with an attic have a two-window range. The entrance is situated to the right of the center and features a 20th-century plank door. To the left of the entrance is a 20th-century window with 2+2-light leaded casements, and there is a small light at the right end. The cottages also have two gabled dormers, each with 2-light leaded casements. The rear of the cottages is plastered and includes two gabled dormers as well.
