Description
41 Rother Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It likely dates from the 17th century but was refronted in 1831. The building is constructed of stucco with an internal timber frame and features a tile roof with a brick end stack. It stands two stories tall and has a three-window range. Notable architectural details include a moulded plinth, a high first-floor sill band, and plain eaves.
The central entrance features a Tuscan doorcase leading to a 20th-century half-glazed door. The ground floor has early 20th-century windows; a bay window on the left has a frieze and cornice with a canvas canopy above, while the window on the right has a sill and plate glass with leaded top lights. The first floor has small windows with 9-pane sashes flanking a blind window. At the rear, there is a later 19th-century gabled wing with an attached former stable, which includes a horizontally sliding sash and a small-paned two-light casement.
