Description
11 and 12 Rother Street is a town house that has been converted into two dwellings. It likely dates from the 15th century and has undergone later alterations. The building features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and a tile roof, which has brick stacks on the slope. It has a Wealden plan with a rear wing and stands two storeys tall, with a three-window range. The first floors of the cross-wings are timber-framed, while the lower sections are faced with later brick, creating a flush facade. The entrances are located at the right ends of the cross-wings and have 20th-century plank doors. The right wing has a segmental-headed window with a three-light casement on the ground floor, while the centre and left ends feature two 20th-century canted oriels. The first floor has a variety of windows, including small-paned casements with two and three lights. The left return has a coped gable and a tile-hung rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
