Description
Cherry Orchard Farmhouse and the attached shop is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a plinth, quoins, and coped gables. The roof is designed to imitate stone slate and includes ashlar end stacks, one of which has two flues linked by a moulded cornice. The building has two storeys plus an attic and is arranged in a two-window range with a two-unit plan.
On the right side, there is a four-light mullioned window with a king mullion and a hood mould that has a label stop. The first floor features a 16-pane painted sash window with a central wood mullion. Extending forward from the left side is a 19th-century brick range that now serves as a shop and has a plank door. At the rear, there is a stone gabled tower with a tall 20th-century window. On the ground and first floors to the right, there is another 16-pane sash window with a stone lintel. Additionally, there is a 19th-century stone two-storey range with a slate roof on the right side of the building. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
