Description

The Home Farmhouse and attached outbuilding date from the 17th century, with a 19th-century raising and alterations. The farmhouse is constructed from limestone ashlar with a plinth and a coped gable on the right-hand side, topped with a slate roof. A brick end stack is also present. It is a two-storey, four-window-range building, based on a two-unit plan. The central feature is a four-panelled door within a chamfered stone surround, with a stone porch to the left. To the left and right of the door are three-light mullioned windows with a hood mould and label stops. The first floor has two-light mullioned windows on the left and right. A two-storey, one-window-range section is located to the right of the farmhouse, constructed from limestone. Further three-light mullioned windows are visible at the rear. To the left is a three-storey, two-window-range section built of brick in a Flemish bond, sitting on a stone plinth. This section has stone coped gables, a slate roof, and brick ridge and end stacks. A six-panelled door is set within a semi-circular brick arch. The first floor incorporates a wood canted bay with 16-pane sashes to the front, above which are further 16-pane sashes with limestone surrounds. The second floor features similar 16-pane sashes. Attached to the right is a stone outbuilding with a slate roof and two bays, including a large weatherboarded opening. The interior contains spine beams with run-out stops and an open fireplace. The building is included on the list for group value.
