Description

There are two headstones located approximately 4 meters east of the southeast corner of the chancel of St. Michael's Church. The headstones date from the late 17th century and early 18th century and are made of carved ironstone. The left headstone is from 1675 and features a scroll pediment with an elaborate festoon, inscribed to John Giles and Ann Giles from 1680. The right headstone dates to 1714 and has a scrolled segmental top, with small central and winged heads, as well as a large oval cartouche.
