Description
Oxhill House Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse, dated 1706. It is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone and features a plinth, offset buttresses at the front and ends, and coped gables. The slate roof has brick ridge and end stacks with original stone bases. The building has two storeys plus an attic and is arranged in an L-plan with a three-window range.
The entrance, located to the centre left, consists of a six-panelled door with a dressed surround, and the lintel is inscribed with 'J.W./JUNE EY 11th/1706'. On the ground and first floors, to the left and right, there are 19th-century three-light casement windows, and there is a blocked opening to the centre right. All windows are topped with wooden lintels. A gabled dormer is present on the left side of the roof.
At the rear, there are 24-pane and 16-pane casements, along with a further 19th-century four-panelled door that has a Doric porch and stained glass lights on each side. Inside, there is a large, blocked open fireplace, a chamfered spine beam with stepped stops, and stone flagged floors.
