Description

Britannia Works is a millinery works and factory located on Coleshill Road, with structures dating from the early, mid, and late 19th century. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features plain-tile roofs. It stands three storeys tall, with the early 19th century entrance range consisting of three bays. The central bay has a brick segmental archway with plank doors, while a 20th-century shallow projection includes a door with a moulded lintel in the third bay. The first bay features 16-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors, and the first floor has 20th-century cross windows in the second and third bays. The ground and first floor windows are adorned with moulded rendered cornices, and the lower second floor has 20th-century top-hung windows. The building also has a moulded rendered cornice and parapet.

To the left, there is an early to mid-19th century two-storey, three-bay range with segmental-arched cast iron windows featuring glazing bars, set within blank round arches, and a dentil cornice under a hipped roof. Adjacent to this is a two-storey range that includes a wide cart entrance and a window with glazing bars above, along with a two-storey, two-bay range on the far left that has segmental-arched iron windows on the first floor, although these elements are not of special architectural interest. The mid and late 19th century range to the right of the entrance block consists of two builds, standing three storeys high with seven bays, featuring a blocked door and segmental-arched iron windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
