Description
Atherstone Lock No. 2 is a canal lock located on the Coventry Canal, built in the 1780s with later repairs. It is constructed of English bond brick and features a coping made of large sandstone blocks, although some parts of the coping have been replaced with concrete blocks. The end wall to the right has large quoins, and the lock includes both single and double lock gates. The section of the Coventry Canal from Atherstone to Fazely was completed by 1790. This lock is included for its group value.
