Description

Collets Barn, built in 1663, is a threshing barn made of coursed sandstone rubble with dressed stone at the corners. It features a plain-tile gable roof and consists of three bays. There are opposing wagon openings with later rebuilt segmental arches made of red brick. The date of construction is inscribed in one of the quoins at the north-east corner, and there are breather openings on the sides of the walls. Inside, there are cross walls on each side of the central bay and two tiers of through purlins. Attached to the east end of the barn is a cattle byre or shelter shed, which is made of 17th or 18th century sandstone rubble and has a plain-tiled roof. This structure has four bays and retains two upper cruck trusses in place.
