Description
Gilson Hall is an early 18th-century farmhouse located in Coleshill. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped plain tile roof with brick ridge stacks. The building has a U-shaped plan, with the main range oriented north-east to south-west and facing south-east, flanked by two rear wings that are now infilled between them. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic, showcasing a first-floor band and a moulded wooden eaves cornice.
The front elevation has five windows, which are glazing bar casements with segmental heads, and there are two attic dormers with hipped roofs. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a moulded wood surround, leading to a porch supported by cast iron columns with a hipped roof. The wings are two bays long and have similar windows to those on the front, with the first-floor band and cornice continuing onto them. At the rear, there are three gabled bays; the middle and left bays each have a door to the left, while the right wing includes a single-storey kitchen extension with an attached pump.
Inside, the front door opens into an entrance hall that contains an early 18th-century L-plan staircase, which features a closed string, turned balusters, and newel pendants.
