Description
Ford Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of large-block coursed dressed and squared stone, topped with a tiled roof and featuring a ridge stack positioned to the left of center. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a three-window front that originally included half-round stone mullioned windows. However, the ground floor windows on the left and center have been replaced with 20th-century casements.
To the left, there are narrow projecting lean-to wings, which are inset from the right and may have been gabled in the past. These wings each have a four-light window on the first floor and a three-light window on the ground floor, with the right wing retaining its original window. The central recess features a five-light window on the first floor above a 20th-century ground-floor window on the left and a part-glazed door on the right.
Additionally, there is a 20th-century single-storey lean-to added against the right-hand wing. A blocked doorway on the first floor of the right return of the left-hand wing was accessed by stone steps until the mid-20th century. The right-hand gable includes a three-light mullioned and transomed attic window above a six-light labelled mullioned window on the first floor.
