Description

This is a road bridge over the Caldon Canal, specifically the Leek Branch, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared, and dressed rubble. The bridge features concave sides and an elliptical arch, with a string course below the parapets that have rounded coping. The carriageway is ramped to the north over the bridge. The Leek branch of the Caldon Canal was opened around 1801, and the engineer responsible for its design was John Rennie.
