Description

Thorncliffe Grange and the attached farm buildings are a farmhouse and outbuildings dating from the late 18th century, with early 19th-century alterations and additions. The structure is built of coursed stone with block dressings and features a blue machine tile roof. It has an L-shaped plan, with the domestic accommodation making up a larger part of one limb. The house has a stone ridge stack at the center and a small brick stack against the eaves at the left end.

The house is two stories high with a three-window front, arranged as one window on the left and two on the right. There are paired entrances to the left in the larger bay, which have 20th-century glazed doors. The windows are painted block mullioned casements, arranged as 2-3-2 lights.

The farm buildings, dating from the early 19th century, are connected to the house by a two-story single-bay farm parlour that shares the same ridge line. The return wing is taller, consisting of two stories and approximately three bays. It features modillioned eaves, with two stables to the left and an elliptically arched cart entry to the right leading to a hay loft. The hay loft has three doors above and dove-cote ledges and openings at the center of the first floor. Throughout the buildings, there are boarded doors.
