Description
The Hargreaves Memorial and railed enclosure, located approximately 15 meters south of the Church of St Lawrence, is a chest tomb dating from around 1806. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a moulded plinth, fluted angle pilasters, and two oval panels on each side, adorned with lightly etched scrollwork borders. The ends of the tomb have circular panels, and the top slab has a moulded edge. Surrounding the tomb is a close-set wrought iron railed enclosure, designed with a spearhead motif and sturdier urn-topped cast standards at the corners, along with an anthemion or honeysuckle pattern on the central rail of the long sides.
