Description
This barn, located approximately 25 meters north-east of Eavesford Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century with an addition made in 1840. It is constructed from coursed dressed and squared stone and features a tiled roof with verge parapets. The barn has an L-shaped plan, consisting of hay lofts situated above cattle sheds. The section farthest from the farmhouse includes a vent to the loft and a central door with a lintel that bears an inscribed coat-of-arms and the initials "J B 1840," likely referring to the Beeches family, who were landowners in the area. The east range of the barn has two doors, with the inner door supported by heavy lintels. The gable facing the farmhouse features two stop-chamfered reveals, one at the apex and another below, which retains a stop-chamfered mullion.
