Description

Bagnall Hall is a house with its core dated to 1603, which was rebuilt in 1777 and altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and dressed stone of ashlar quality, topped with a hipped tile roof and featuring stone end stacks. The building is two stories tall and has a five-window front. The windows are glazing bar sashes with an unusual diagonal bar pattern and have raised surrounds that are corbelled to the left. The left-hand trio of windows is set in a slight break, which is highlighted by raised quoins. Above the entrance, there is a blind center window that complements this arrangement, featuring a corbelled cornice topped with carved lions. The entrance itself has a moulded surround to a six-panel door with an overlight. A datestone, inscribed with "1603 IM REBUILT 1777," is situated between the right-hand pair of windows at the first-floor level. There is also a flat-roofed single-storey addition to the left.
