Description
The Overton Road entrance to Biddulph Grange features gates, gatepiers, and flanking walls dating from the mid-19th century. Constructed from ashlar, the main gates are flanked by panelled piers topped with moulded cappings and square vase-shaped finials. The gates themselves are made of timber and feature a crest. To the left, there is a short wall that is ramped at both ends and connects to a pedestrian entry. This entry has a low square-headed opening with vermiculated, rusticated surrounds, topped with a cornice and soldier course that has a heightened centre, which displays a vermiculated panel and a circular urn finial. To the left, a quadrant of low stone walling completes the design, while to the right, a short run of trefoil-headed cast iron railings set on a stone plinth leads towards the Lodge, which is not included in this listing.
