Description
The boundary feature at Guiting Stud, located at NGR 1038 2535, was formerly an entrance to Guiting Grange at the end of a tree-lined avenue. It dates from the 18th century and features gate piers from the same period, with 19th-century walls and blocking. Constructed from limestone and cast iron, the structure includes two rectangular gate piers that are cut back at the corners. There is possibly original graffiti reading "AW 1746" on the right-hand pier. Each pier has pilasters with moulded caps and brackets above. Between the piers, there is decorative cast-iron railing from the 19th century. The walls on either side of the piers are arcaded and topped with moulded capping. The wall on the right steps up in two quarter curves, and to the right of the second step, the wall is made of coursed squared and dressed limestone. Additionally, there are two square ashlar piers with pyramidal tops flanking a single plank door on the far right.
