Description
The Chinese Bridge is an ornamental footbridge located in the Chinese Garden at Biddulph Grange. It was built between 1848 and 1860 by John Bateman and is designed in a Chinese style. The bridge features two straight flights of open treads leading to a central suspended landing, with pinnacled newels at the approaches and landing. The balustrading consists of flat balusters, and the structure is painted in red and blue. It is part of the perambulation of the Chinese Garden and was noted to be semi-derelict at the time of the resurvey in September 1984.
