Description
The Joss House is an ornamental garden building located in the Chinese Garden at Biddulph Grange. It was constructed between 1848 and 1860 by John Bateman. This single-cell shelter features painted timber boarding on a timber frame, showcasing a Chinese style with a crested ridge and upturned eaves. The structure has a cusped arched opening and is painted in blue, red, and white. It is part of the Chinese Garden's layout and was noted to be semi-derelict during a resurvey in September 1984.
