Description

These are a terrace of three silk weavers' cottages, now used as printing works, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The cottages feature Flemish bond brickwork with blue headers and have a plain tiled roof.

The exterior has three storeys at the front and two storeys at the rear, with a three-window range. Each cottage has a single-room plan. Originally, the doorways were located to the left of the two left-hand units and to the right in the right-hand cottage, but the central doorway is now blocked. The doorways and windows have cambered brick heads. The lower windows have fixed lights, with horizontally sliding sash or casement windows of three and four lights. The attic storey windows have been reduced in size and are now two-light horizontally sliding sashes or casements, which were likely longer weavers' lights originally. There is a large inserted workshop window in the gable wall that is now partially blocked, indicating that the cottages have a long history of non-domestic use. The interior has not been inspected. These cottages form a group with the adjacent southern terraced cottage row.
