Description
22, 23, and 24 East Street are a terrace of three cottages located at a street intersection in Tewkesbury, built in the mid-19th century. The cottages feature Flemish bond brickwork and a slate roof with brick stacks. They are three storeys high and have a one-plus-one-plus-one window arrangement. Each cottage has six above 12-pane sash windows, although there is a replacement sash window at number 22. The windows are set beneath splayed V-joint lintels and have stooled stone cills. The cottages have 20th-century doors that are positioned lower than the adjacent window heads, also beneath splayed V-joint lintels. A blue brick damp-proof course and a moulded brick eaves dentil course are present, along with two brick stacks. The left side has a plain return with two inserted lights at ground level. The rear of the cottages has six above 12-pane sashes, with replacements at number 22, and features a large square stack on the back roof slope. These cottages are part of a group associated with Tewkesbury's former thriving stocking-weaving industry and occupy an important corner position within the group.
