Description
Barton Terrace is a terrace of two houses, formerly three, located at the end of a row in Tewkesbury. It was built in the early 19th century and features a rendered brick exterior with a slate roof. The building has three storeys and a basement, with a two-over-two window arrangement. The first and second floors have 16-pane sash windows, which are set behind decorative wooden trellis and balconies supported by paired vertical posts across two storeys. The balcony fronts are close-railed, although some parts have been replaced at No. 3.
On the ground floor, No. 1 has a square four-pane sash window above a basement sash, while No. 3 has two four-pane sashes with a partly concealed basement light. To the left, there is an arched opening with an architrave leading up four stone steps to a part-glazed 19th-century door, also framed by an architrave. In the center, there is a six-panel 19th-century door in an architrave on five steps, and to the far right, a part-glazed door on four steps that leads to a former throughway. The building features a deep flat eaves soffit adorned with a series of dropped decorative 'spikes'.
There is a brick chimney stack to the right of No. 1 and another in the center of No. 3. The left return, which is cement rendered, has two 12-pane sash windows and curves into Chance Street at the ground floor. The rear of the building has wings, with the one for No. 3 being longer than that for No. 1, featuring a large stack in the valley and three 16-pane sashes on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
