Description
46A and 47 Barton Street is a house in a row, dating from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating older materials. It features Flemish bond brickwork and a tiled roof. The building has three storeys and a basement, with a single window on each floor. The windows are 12 over 16-pane sashes, equipped with splayed V-joint lintels and stone cills. On the ground floor, there is a 6-pane window set in a raised surround, topped with a fascia under scalloped lead dressing, and a small grilled opening leading to the basement below. To the far left, there is an arched opening that was once a throughway, now leading to No. 46A, which has a 20th-century door. To the left of the window, there is another 20th-century door on two stone steps, also under a splayed V-joint lintel. The rear of No. 47 features a hipped 19th-century design with two bays, V-joint lintels over 2-light casements, and a 20th-century flat-roofed extension. No chimneys are visible.
