Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages located in East Street, Tewkesbury, were built in the early 19th century. They are constructed with Flemish bond brickwork and have a tile roof, with brick stacks. The cottages have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high, featuring a 1+1-window arrangement. The ground floor windows are 12-pane sashes set within segmental brick heads, lacking cills. A 20th-century door is located on the left-hand side, and a 19th-century four-panel flush door is situated on the right. A large square brick stack rises below the ridge at both the front and back. Straight joints in the brickwork are visible on either side of the properties. At the rear of the cottages, No. 25 has a 20th-century dormer, while No. 26 has a 19th-century four-light flat-roofed dormer and 20th-century casement windows. These cottages are part of a notable group of early artisan housing associated with the former stocking factory, now Nos. 1-16 North East Terrace.
