Description
This is a small house located at the end of a row in Barton Street, Tewkesbury. It likely dates from the 17th or 18th century, but has a front facade that was updated in the mid-19th century. The exterior is rendered, with some exposed timber framing visible in the gable. It has a tile roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and originally had just one window. A 20th-century gabled dormer window sits above two four-pane sash windows, which are set within splayed V-joint lintels and thin stone sills. A 20th-century door, set within moulded jambs and accessed by a stone step, is located on the left side. The upper part of the front wall slightly overhangs the adjacent property, number 47. The rendered side elevation facing Chance Street features a small oriel window at ground floor level and a single window in the attic. A brick back wing, characterized by its high eaves stack, dates from the 19th century. The party wall shared with number 47 is constructed from light timber framing. The interior has not been inspected. Given its architectural details and its contribution to the streetscape, this building is considered to have group value.
