Description
This shelter, built in 1905, is located approximately 45 metres south-east of the County War Memorial in Stafford. It is constructed from cast iron and timber, featuring a felt-clad hipped roof. The rectangular structure consists of six bays, with the end bays projecting to create central recesses on each side and at both ends. The roof is supported by cast-iron columns that have enriched bases on high plinths and Ionic capitals. There are simple benches in the recesses. On the north-east side, there is cresting that includes a cartouche with an inscription noting that the shelter was erected at the cost of the Mayor, Alderman Mottram.
