Description
Doxey Wood Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located on Bigwood Lane in Dunston and Coppenhall. The building features a timber frame that has been partly rebuilt in brick, with a plastered and painted exterior designed to imitate timber framing. It has a corrugated iron roof and a brick stack at one end. The cottage is a single-cell structure with one storey and a gable-lit attic. The entrance is a boarded door located to the right, with a fixed-light glazing bar casement window to the right of centre and a small window to the left. The framing consists of irregular, mainly square panels made of slight scantling, supported by short straight braces. There is a single-storey extension to the left. The left gable displays V-struts above the collar, along with one pair of purlins and a ridge piece.
