Description
The Toft is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from around 1700 with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of red brick and features a shaped tile roof with brick integral end stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan, with the main range aligned north-east to south-west facing south-east, and a rear wing aligned north-west to south-east. It stands two storeys high and includes a first-floor band and a moulded eaves cornice. The façade consists of four bays with casement windows that have segmental heads, and there is a two-storey canted bay window to the right. To the left of centre, there is a 20th-century porch with a half-glazed door and fanlight, supported by an open pediment and fluted pilasters. Inside, the left-hand front room features a ceiling beam with very wide chamfers, chamfered and stopped joists, and re-set 18th-century wall panelling. The roof trusses include a tie beam, collar, two pairs of purlins, and a ridge piece, while the partition walls are timber framed.
