Description

Stafford Castle, a structure dating from around 1815, is located on a hill west of the county town. It was built by Lord Stafford on the site of a medieval castle but was never completed. Over the years, it fell into disrepair and became a crumbling ruin. Currently, only the lower parts remain, as the towers and curtain walls were deemed unsafe and largely demolished in 1963.
