Description
This barn, located immediately south-west of Home Farmhouse, is likely from the 15th century and has undergone significant alterations over the years. It features a timber frame with aisled construction, although the outer walls have mostly been replaced with brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles and is aligned east-west, with an aisle on the north side only. The barn is a single storey with five roof bays. The south side includes several tiers of air vents and blocked central barn doors. Inside, part of the main span roof truss and the aisle truss can be seen to the west. The main wall posts are preserved only on the north side; these are jowelled and have empty mortises for braces that once extended to the tie beam. There are six main-span collar and tie beam roof trusses, each with short angled struts connecting the tie beam to the principals.
