Description

The stables, located approximately 20 metres north of Hills Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century, with the date "EC 1776" inscribed on a projecting kneeler at the left-hand rear. The building features red brick in English garden wall bond and a plain tiled roof with raised brick verges on projecting stone kneelers. It is arranged over two levels and has a brick floor band. The front has three openings: a hatch to the left and two mid-19th century windows to the right on the upper level, along with a stable door to the left on the ground floor. There is a steep-pitched lean-to that houses a staircase and an inserted lean-to two-bay cart shelter to the right. Additionally, there are single-storied mid-19th century projections flanking the building on the left and right. Inside, the stables date from the mid-19th century and there is a fire insurance plate on the left-hand gable end.
