Description
The former stables, located approximately 25 metres east of Longage Farmhouse, date from the early 18th century. They are constructed from chequered red and grey brick with a plain tile roof and are oriented at right angles to the road, facing west. The building has two storeys and features a brick plinth, with a flint and sandstone base at the right end where the land slopes. There is a plat band and three buttresses on the rear. The roof is hipped, and the first floor has three boarded loading doors—one at each end and one towards the centre. The ground floor includes three paned lights, a stable door at the left end, double and single half-glazed doors towards the centre, and a boarded door with a segmental relieving arch to the right. The left (north) gable end is unpierced. A scratch date reading H 17(?)O I is located above the right ground-floor door.
