Description

Mount Pleasant is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century, with some parts from the 18th century and late 18th or early 19th century additions. Originally timber-framed, the front elevation features red and grey brick on the 17th-century section, with red brick in Flemish bond to the left and later red and grey brick to the right. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a shallow pitch, hipped at both ends. The 17th-century section has a flint and stone plinth, and there are rear stacks on both sides.

The building is two storeys high with irregular fenestration consisting of five sash windows. This includes a sixteen-pane sash in the left addition and a smaller one towards the left end of the 17th-century section, both in open boxes. There is a recessed twelve-pane sash at the right end of the 17th-century section, another sixteen-pane sash in an open box, and a similar recessed sash at the right end. A flat-roofed canted brick bay is located under the left end window and another under the second window from the right. The entrance features a half-glazed door with sidelights and a cambered head, sheltered by a flat-roofed Doric porch beneath the second window from the left.

To the right, there is a rear brick wing that connects to a long single-storey weatherboarded outbuilding, along with a shorter rear wing situated between the right wing and the main range. The interior has only been partly inspected, revealing three 17th-century beams and chamfered joists in the entrance hall, with one beam featuring a jewelled or pyramidal stop.
