Description
This building is a school constructed in 1871 by James Brooks. It is made of brick with stone dressings and features a plain tiled roof with ridge cresting. The front facing High Street is a single-storey range with seven bays, showcasing mullioned windows that are recessed behind short columns with turned capitals and bases. There is a Gothic arched doorway with the remains of a bell-cote above it. The facade facing Knutton Road consists of ten bays and is also single-storeyed, with an additional lower storey to the left due to the sloping site. The right gable is partially tile-hung. The windows are mullioned and recessed behind columns, while the lower section includes paired windows and a doorway with diaper brickwork beneath their hoodmoulds. The building has axial stacks and a series of castellated ventilators along the ridge.
