Description
The former calcining works, built in the late 19th century, is located in Stoke on Trent on Newport Lane. The structure is made of brick and has plain tiled roofs, arranged in an L-shape. The works include a two-storey workshop range that runs parallel to the canal, featuring five blocked windows and upper loading doors. At a right angle to this is a single-storey range that was once open with a series of arcaded arches, which are now filled in. To the east of the site, there are two calcining kilns adjacent to the workshop range: one is a narrow cylindrical shape, while the other is square in section and has a heavily moulded cap, along with a chimney at the rear.
