Description

St Michael's Church School is an 1870 building by James Brooks, located in Leonard Street, London. The school is constructed of stock brick with dressings of red and blue brick and stone, and has a high-pitched slated roof. It is three storeys high and comprises three bays, arranged in a very irregular manner. The building is in the Gothic style, featuring a large traceried window beneath a central gable that breaks the eaves. Pointed relieving arches are present on the windows, and continuous hoodmoulds and bands unify the facade. A chimney, partly taken down, rests on a corbel supported by a long attached stone shaft, located on the right-hand side of the building. The school appears disused at the time of listing and forms a group with the Church of St Michael and the Clergy House, Mark Street.
