Description

SJ 63 SE LOGGERHEADS C.P SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL, Tyrley Wharf 11/166 Former Chapel adjoining south-east end of No.32 (formerly listed as 20/6/73 former Chapel adjoining)

GV II

Former Non-conformist chapel, now house. C.1840 with later additions and alterations. Brown brick with ashlar dressings, slate roof with coped verges on stone kneelers. 2 levels; fixed-light window in stone surround to left; roughly central doorway on first floor with cambered arch, approached by late C20 lateral steps with wooden handrail. Late C20 garage door inserted in ground floor of right-hand gable end with 2-light casement above. Original round-headed doorway with raised keystone to rear; oculus above and subsidiary entrance to left. The chapel appears to be slightly later than No.32 (q.v.) as the coping of its left-hand gable end overlies that of the latter. Forms a picturesque group with the other buildings on Tyrley Wharf (q.v.).
