Description
This is a milepost, likely from the mid-to-late 19th century. It is made of cast iron with a black painted base and features raised lettering. The milepost has a triangular shape with a chamfered top that slopes towards the front. The top is lettered "ASHLEY," while the left side reads "ECCLESHALL 7/STAFFORD 14." The right side lists distances to various locations: "KNIGHTON 3¾ / PIPEGATE 4½ / MARKET DRAYTON 5¼ / WOORE 3¼ / NANTWICH 14."
