Description

No. 28 High Street is a shop premises that may have originally been a dwelling, featuring living accommodation above and at the rear. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof. The building has three storeys and two bays, with a mid-19th century shop front that includes a cast-iron balconette above the fascia, which displays glass lettering. The central doorway is flanked by fluted pilasters that support the fascia and features foliate spandrels. Above the shop front, there are sash windows with flat arched stuccoed heads and stressed voussoirs. The building is topped with a moulded eaves cornice and has gable end stacks.
