Description

This pair of late 18th-century shop premises is located on the south-west side of High Street in Newcastle under Lyme. The building is constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof. It is three storeys high and originally had two bays. The ground floor features a mid-19th century shop front, characterised by fluted Corinthian pilasters with polygonal, chamfered bases. The upper floors contain 24-pane sash windows, with 12-pane sash windows in the attic. All windows have flat-arched stuccoed heads. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along the top of the building, and there are gable end stacks.
