Description
The Stafford Road Pinfold is a pinfold located at the corner of Cross in Hand Lane. It dates from the 18th century but has earlier origins, with 19th-century additions. The structure was restored and paved in 1990. It is made of brick and has a square shape, featuring 18th-century brick walls that were heightened in the 19th century, topped with brick coping. A 20th-century gate is located at the front, with steps leading down to the interior, which is paved with brick. A plaque on the rear wall provides a history of the pinfold, noting that it is the last remaining example in the city, managed by St George's Court, which appointed pinners and pinfold keepers on 23 April.
