Description
Old Windmill House is a late 18th-century windmill that has been converted into part of a house in 1905. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a tall conical tower topped with ashlar merlons that create a simple crenellation. The structure has four storeys, with a window on each floor, including one sashed window and one blocked window at the rear. The attached house built in 1905 has a mixed stone rubble facing, which includes some carved stones, on the front and right return. The mill was operational by 1807 and used steam power from 1857 until the early 1870s, before being incorporated into the house in 1905. It is a well-preserved example, although it no longer contains its machinery.
