Description

This house, now a shop, was built in the mid to late 18th century and altered around 1840. The exterior is stuccoed with a tile roof and a brick stack at the center. It is two storeys high, originally with a three-window front. The left side features a carriage entrance with a reused timber beam and paired plank gates. A doorcase with consoles and a six-panel door are located to the right of the carriage entrance, with a similar entrance on the right end. Mid-19th century shop windows are present with matching frames and two-light glazing. The first-floor windows have sills and stop-chamfered openings to four-pane sashes. Three gabled dormers with small-paned glazing are visible in the attic. A 18th-century garden wall extends to the rear and is attached to the house, along with a small, two-storey outbuilding covered in ivy (located at number 51). The interior features a large chamfered beam across the carriage way, decorative cornices, panelled doors, and a quarter-turn staircase. The building is included on the list for its group value.
