Description

The Maltings is an 18th-century house that has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with a central brick chimney stack. The building follows a lobby entry plan and has two storeys plus an attic. It displays a dentilled eaves course and has three windows, which are 20th-century sashes; the ground floor windows have cambered heads. To the left, there is a later lean-to projection with an overhanging slate roof, a bow window on the left, and a blocked doorway on the right. A six-panelled door is located to the right of centre, framed by a wooden doorcase with panelled pilasters and a cornice hood. The Maltings occupies a significant position in the centre of town.
